- Emanuel (Aquinas High school)
Emanuel was in form two in the above school in 2024. His performance was fairly good though he needed to put more effort in sciences. He is still in the school leadership team but has been able to balance the leadership roles and his studies very well. He is a very organized and focused student with great potential.
His mother operates different businesses for survival and also works in a wines and spirits outlet.
College students:
- Nicole (Technical university of Kenya)
Nicole joined the above college in September 2024 to pursue a diploma in International relations and diplomacy; a course which runs for three years. She is a cousin to Emanuel above and has been living with Emanuel’s family since childhood.
- Sprewell (Kenyatta University college)
Sprewell joined the above university in September 2024 to take a course in Bachelor of Arts after he scored a C-plus in KCPE in 2023. He has remained steadfast in his studies and this earned him a place in one of the high ranking universities in the country. Sprewell is a symbol of resilience who has gone against all odds to make it to the University. For him, going to a university is a dream come true and a manifestation to his other siblings that anyone, through persistence and hard work can make it.
His mother, Naomi still operate her small businesses which provide a livelihood for the family. His father often finds casual jobs around and he if doesn’t find any, he helps in the family business. Family income is about kshs.30, 000 per month.
- June (Maseno University)
June was in the third year of his study in 2024. He has remained steadfast and is posting good grades at the university where he’s taking a course in actuarial science. He is a mentor and role model to his siblings and peer group in the community around him. Many a times he helps them with their homework during holidays and plays a crucial role by influencing their socialization.
His parents work jointly to ensure that all their children get education. The mother runs different small businesses which she alternates from time to time depending on what is in demand. June’s father also make contributions towards family upkeep through his mechanic jobs and this has helped in boosting family income. Average family income is kshs.30, 000 per month.
- Mitchell (RVIST)
Mitchel was in the third year of her course in business information technology. She is progressing well and looks forward to getting good grades upon completion. Her mother operates different small businesses to fend for the family while her father gets casual jobs which adds to family income. The average family income is kshs.25, 000 per month.
- Yvonne (Multimedia University)
Yvonne had gone for internship during the first quarter of 2024 after completing classwork in December 2023. She was later absorbed in the same company on casual basis and has been able to earn some income as she gets the much needed work experience.
Her mother runs different small businesses for family upkeep while the father occasionally finds casual jobs. This has enabled them to take other children to school and provide family needs. Average family income is kshs. 35,000 per month.
- Jerry ( Kenyatta University)
Jerry finished his course in information science at the above university in 2024. He’s on internship which will run for the first quarter of 2025. He is another promising graduate from the project, and we are hopeful that he will get employment soon after attachment.
His mother operate a general merchandise business. Most of her products are textile and cutlery mainly for the low-income group. Average income from business activities is kshs.30, 000 per month. Jerry’s father often help in the business whenever he has free time, alongside the odd jobs which he does to supplement family income.
